Lucknow Super Giants' fast bowler Mayank Yadav departed the field following a suspected injury during the IPL 2024 match against Mumbai Indians at the Ekana Stadium on Tuesday.

Participating in his fourth match of the season, Mayank reappeared in the LSG playing XI after a prolonged abdominal strain.

In the match against Mumbai Indians at home, Mayank bowled 19 deliveries. He claimed a wicket off the first ball of his last over, dismissing Mohammad Nabi, but subsequently left the field accompanied by the physio. There is no official update on his departure yet.

During his spell, Mayank reached speeds of 150 km/h, yet his bowling lacked the same vigour as in LSG’s previous encounters with PBKS and RCB. During one delivery, he struck Nehal Wadhera on the helmet when the batsman failed to evade the line of the delivery.

During the toss, LSG skipper KL Rahul commented on the young pacer's reintroduction to the playing XI.

“Mayank is back as well. He has bowled really well, he has a huge impact. I have been pushing the physios and medical team. Mayank is eager to go. Important that he gets it out of his head that he had an injury.”

Remember, the 21-year-old pace featured in second, third and fourth LSG games in the competition. He was out of action since featuring against Gujarat Titans on April 7.

It must be noted that LSG is presently fifth in the standings and vying for a playoff spot. However, Mumbai Indians need to win their remaining matches to progress.
